about the door stewardship allianceThe Door Stewardship Alliance (also known as DSA) was born in 2001 when the Door County Land Trust (DCLT) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) joined together to create a volunteer land management group to work at permanently protected properties on the Door Peninsula of Wisconsin. Through pooling of volunteers and equipment, both organizations are able to more effectively protect and manage their preserves while engaging a larger audience than one organization alone may reach.
Today the Door Stewardship Alliance includes nearly 200 volunteers, a number of which are active on a weekly basis. Approximately 25 work parties, organized by both the Door County Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy, are held each year, and a weekly email is sent to volunteers with upcoming opportunities. In 2013 alone, more than 1,000 volunteers hours were conducted on DCLT and TNC properties by members of the Door Stewardship Alliance. Through the Alliance, volunteers gain comradery, biological knowledge, and hands-on training in land management and invasive plant control.
