Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:
Door County Land Trust Office Native Landscaping - Tuesday, April 18th, 2017
23 North 5th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay - 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Are you looking for fun, fresh air and getting close to wildness right here in the middle of the city? Join us to help "spruce" up the native woodland landscape at the Door County Land Trust's Sturgeon Bay office. There are many tasks to choose from: pruning, edging, raking and more! Garden tools will be provided, but bring your own if you like. We'll be tutored by the experts from Door Landscape, so it's also a great opportunity to learn to ID our Door County native plants and see how they can be used in an urban setting.
We'll start at 9:00 am and will be working until noon, but feel free to arrive on your own schedule. Morning goodies and beverages will be provided. Contact Amanda Pyke at the Door County Land Trust if you have questions at (920) 746-1359 or email@example.com.
Door County Land Trust Tree Planting - Thursday, April 27th, 2017
Lautenbach Woods Nature Preserve 6749 County G - 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Join us for an afternoon of tree planting to celebrate Earth Week! We are continuing our efforts to plant native seedlings at our Lautenbach Woods Nature Preserve. Please meet at the planting site located on County G, just north of the preserve parking area and trailhead (look for DCLT's black truck) at 12:00 pm. Parking is available on County G. We will be planting until 3:00 or until we are out of seedlings. Please feel free to stay for as little or as long as you would like.
DCLT will have all the necessary equipment, but you are welcome to bring your favorite bucket and shovel to plant with. Contact Amanda Pyke at the Door County Land Trust if you have questions at (920)746-1359 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Arbor Day Tree Planting at the Mink River Preserve - Saturday April 29, 2017
Intersection of Birchwood and Badger Roads, Ellison Bay - 9:00am to 1:00pm
Please join The Nature Conservancy as we celebrate Arbor Day by planting native seedlings at our Mink River Preserve in Ellison Bay. We will meet at the site at 9:00am and will work until the seedlings are in the ground or 1:00pm (whichever comes first). Volunteers may help plant trees for as little or as long as they would like and feel free to bring a bag lunch if staying through the morning - after the planting there will be time to enjoy lunch, admire our hard work, and socialize. TNC will have snacks and water available at the sire throughout the morning as well. Children and families are welcome!
This property does not have a fire number, but volunteers may park on our property off of Birchwood Road, or along the shoulder of Birchwood Road. A temporary sign will be posted to direct people on the morning of the planting. If you have them at your disposal, please bring along a round-point shovel, five-gallon bucket to carry seedlings in, and work gloves. TNC will have extra supplies available if you do not have these items. Any questions can be directed to Kari Hagenow, Door Peninsula Land Steward for TNC, at (920) 743-8695 or email@example.com. Hope to see you out there!
Weekly Door Stewardship Alliance workdays will resume in May - please check back periodically for additional upcoming opportunities from The Nature Conservancy and the Door County Land Trust!
